Yet another Under the Radar 2009 Company has been acquired as of this morning! This is the 5th company that has been acquired in only 10-months after presenting at Under the Radar. Location-Based Mobile Software Company Aloqa has been acquired by Motorola!!!
We are also pleased to announce that, as of September 15, 2010, our global user base has crossed the one million mark. Like every startup, we have always dreamed of our technology and product being used by tens of millions of satisfied users everywhere and being a part of the Motorola Mobility team will help us achieve this goal. We are proud that Motorola chose the Aloqa platform and IP as a core part of its future in location technologies.
This milestone also brings us to the next stage of our journey – a journey that started in 2007 when Georg and Johannes co-founded Aloqa with a simple set of beliefs and a grand mission: to transform mobile phones from being “not very good small PCs” to devices that “proactively serve users contextually relevant information.” Since 2007, we have grown and made significant progress towards achieving that objective. Today we serve over one million users globally and partner with more than 100 publishers in six countries. In addition, over the last two years, dozens of mobile ecosystem players and experts worldwide have recognized the power of the Aloqa platform.
Joining an industry leader and global mobile giant like Motorola creates a new world of possibilities for us. To you – our friends, advocates and users – we commit that we will continue to satisfy and delight you by making your mobile experience better each day. [Your contacts at Aloqa will remain the same and we encourage you to reach out to them if you have any questions.] We look forward to building on our relationship with you as part of the Motorola Mobility team.
Thank you for your encouragement over the years and your continued support.
